IMPERFECTLY PERFECT

ii
As I woke up this morning, all I could say as a prayer was “Lord, keep me weak”. Lately, I have been feeling under attack and highly inadequate. Being in His presence throughout this week with only that word of prayer in my heart, I have come to appreciate my weakness for in them His power comes to full play. I have realized that trying to make myself strong will only lead to fatigue but that’s ok. Jesus’ unending power rests in me.
Whenever I agree with God concerning my frailty in any given area, His grace is available to meet the need. Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.
ii1
Daily I confess that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
I realize that it isn’t only the devil that makes me feel weak- sometimes, God too. He makes me feel weak to keep me from adopting attitudes that would render me useless in the work of spreading His Kingdom.
And now, every morning, I thank God for the stuff in my life that keeps me weak and dependent on Him. He created me perfect –weakness and all. Through my weakness, My Heavenly Father works mouth-watering miracles.
Abba Father reminds me not to forget:
Noah was a drunk
Abraham was too old
Jacob was a liar
Leah was ugly
Joseph was abused
Moses had a stuttering problem (sometimes I stutter when I am angry)
Samson was a womanizer
Rahab was a prostitute
David had an affair and was a murderer (some men will find comfort in this abi?)
Isaiah preached naked (imagine that)
Jonah ran from God
Naomi was a widow
Job went bankrupt (you should see my account balance at the moment)
John the Baptist ate bugs (imagine eating a cockroach)
The Disciples fell asleep while praying (Guiltyyyyy)
Martha worried about everything (don’t we all?)
The Samaritan woman was a multiple divorcee
Zaccheus was too short (I used to be too thin)
Paul was almost a fanatic
Lazarus, ah, Lazarus was dead.

  1. Hello Ezar. Your post today brings to mind one of my favorite passages. Hebrews 4:14-16: Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. PRAISE THE LORD

  2. One of the biggest things that I have admired all my life, even before I became a Christian is obvious weakness in people, and the Bible tells us that God admires this attribute also. I grew up with a friend Jamie who contacted polio at 3 months of age resulting in total paralysis below the middle of his chest and on down to his toes. Since his disability occurred at such an early age, his legs looked underdeveloped, shriveled and useless in contrast to his strong upper body. And yet with braces to straighten his legs at the knees, he walked effortlessly with crutches by swinging his lower extremities in front of him. Though his legs were paralyzed and weak without a single working muscle. My friend was a strong person. He passed away a few years ago and was eulogized as a man of inner strength. I also admired his strength. Likewise, as we will see God delights in our weaknesses, for when his power is in us we are made perfect. God bless u

  4. There are times in each of our lives when we feel emotionally or physically weary, weak, spent, or broken. We look upward to our Lord Yeshua and tell Him that we have nothing more to give. Our sovereign God who is rich in mercy, provides us a remedy when we are facing these life experiences, for . . .God’s Power And Strength Is Discovered In Our Weakness

  5. When we face these challenging times, let us remember the encouragement God provides each of us in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” It is in our weakness that the power of God’s strength can flow most freely. Everything that surrounds us in our secular world abhors being weak; yet the reality is that some type of weakness exists in each of us. No matter how rich, famous, powerful, or significant someone may appear, some sort of weakness prevails. Weakness has no boundaries.

  6. Ezar, this is God’s honest truth, it’s right there in black and white. We are weak and will require strength from God on high. When we try to do things alone we are not accepting the grace that God has to give us. His grace allows us to make mistakes, to accept that we can’t do things alone and then His strength will prove perfect in the midst of our weakness.

  7. lol…Ezar? Pls what do u mean by “some men will find comfort in this?” when u talked of David’s weakness? lolz. u r not seriousooo but you have a point. i think Honest self-examination is necessary to recognize our own sin, then we must repent of it. We may try to fool ourselves or others, but we cannot hide our sin from God. God always offers forgiveness for our sins, but we cannot escape the consequences. He highly values our faith in him and despite life’s ups and downs, He is ever-present to give us comfort and help.

    • That’s rights Chuks. And may I add that apart from the sins of murder and adultery He took a census of the people, willfully violating God’s command not to do that and was sometimes lax, or absent as a father, not disciplining his children when they needed it. But still King David is included in the “Faith Hall of Fame” in Hebrews 11.He was an ancestor of Jesus Christ and Jesus was often called “Son of David.”Also, God called David a man after his own heart.

  8. There are things in my life that i have a weakness for. So much so that they can lead me to sin. But this prayer that David put before God is one I need to make everyday. My version of the prayer is:
Lord, sometimes i can’t discern between right and wrong. Forgive all that i am hiding. Protect me from sins i can easily make, may they not devour me. Because than i can be pure and innocent from my enemies. Every word that leaves my mouth and all you find in my heart and soul may you smile just thinking about me. O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer; my Savior.
    Love u Ezar.

  11. Wonderful examples. Just when you think life is over and cannot by any human wisdom or power go on (those that had been sick with a near death experience will relate). Or just when you lost hope in an exam you just wrote because you realise that what you wrote was just empty nothings. Or perhaps you lost hope in your own life because situations are just not looking up….It is right there that Christ reveals the God that He is..Without any scriptural reference, I knew that whenever I feel like I have been defeated, I need to tell the Mighty Warrior what had just happened…not because He is unaware of the situation, but just so HIs power may be made perfect in my weakness.

  12. I remember after I wrote my last exam, I was not in any mood to celebrate that exams were finally over. It had been a long, dragged road, and it was finally over….it deserved to be celebrated. Although I went out to have fun with friends, I was not enjoying fully, because the devil kept telling me how I failed that exam…in fact how I failed my second year… I had no word against what he was saying…none what so ever. Nonetheless, when I got to my room, I wept to the one who sees and knows all things. I reminded him of what I know Him to be, what He has been in my life, the God that HE IS! I got to a point where I acknowledged all my weaknesses before him, it includes saying the hypothalamus weighs 400 grams instead of the 4.00 grams I had studied( this is the funniest joke now that I look back) but hey!, guess what?! Christ showed up…He made his power perfect in my weakness. Now, just like Paul I say… for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. FOR WHEN I am weak, then I am STRONG!!
