Happy Teachers’ Day to Me!!!
Posted by Ezar
I’ve had many job titles throughout my life, from being a School Media Specialist to being an Author to being in charge of a business, yet nothing has ever made me beam with pride quite like the title ‘teacher.’ It has not always been the easiest of roads, however, and I’ve faced more ‘rollercoaster’ years as a teacher than I have with any other profession. Yet even with all of the ‘ups and downs,’ there is one thing that I can clearly state at the end of the day. “I am a teacher, and I am proud!”
There is a hidden joy in being a teacher. In spite the vicissitudes that go with it, I continue to derive my personal satisfaction in being at the center of the lives of my learners. I love the interaction and the learner’s rapt attention, which often places me at the centre of their world making me feel alive.
I strive to do my work conscientiously not only to enable the girls I mentor at TVC where I teach, to pass the exams but also to mould an all-round individual out of them…an individual well equipped with the right knowledge and skills to enable her fit in the society.
I look forward to going into work every day. Every day is a highlight. I love being a teacher and I feel immensely proud when people ask me what I do for a living. The children inspire me, challenge me, make me laugh and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my time. No two days are the same because we get to teach people, and people are not the same every day. Sometimes it’s tough, but for the most part our young people are bright, funny and caring – I just wish that everyone else could see that and feel the same sense of pride seeing them grow and develop into adults as I do.
To other Teachers: No matter where you may be in your teaching career, whether you are on top of the world or feeling more towards the bottom, BE PROUD. You are a part of something much bigger than you can even imagine. You are making an impact of epic proportions, you are changing the lives of your students and what you do each day matters more than you know.
Be PROUD to call yourself ‘Teacher.’
Happy Teachers’ Day!
