“Digital generation. Our generation.”
New technologies and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic are radically transforming learning platforms and jobs. Digital literacy is essential to thrive in this twenty-first-century reality.
But 2.2 billion people below the age of 25 do not have internet access at home, with girls more likely to be cut off. In low- and middle-income countries, just 54 per cent of women access mobile internet. The gender digital divide is about more than connectivity. Girls are also less likely than boys to use and own devices, and gain access to tech-related skills and jobs. Only by addressing the inequity and exclusion that span geographies and generations can we usher in a digital revolution for all, with all.
Girls know their digital realities and the solutions they need to pave paths to freedom of expression, joy and boundless potential. Together, let’s widen these pathways so that this generation of girls can become a generation of technologists.
Share stories, pictures and videos of inspiring adolescent girls who are tech trailblazers in their own right in Delta State. These technologists should embody the hope of change possible if we only invest more in girl- and young-women-designed learning solutions fit for their digital world.
The objective of the competition:
1. Encourage innovative ideas and design thinking amongst the girls and young women on shaping a better digital future for Delta State.
2. Generate more interests of the female students towards ICT
